Ligature: Winslow Reeds: Rico Royal 3.5 "These saxes are amazing" After spending 10 years playing on what i considered to be the best vintage tenor available, i thought nothing could compare....until now!! The P Mauriat horns have exceeded all my expectations, boasting every attribute you would expect from a world class instrument, consistent intonation throughout all registers, smooth and responsive action, full rich centred tone. They look fantastic and the competitive price is by no means a reflection of the outstanding quality and craftmanship! "I highly recommend these saxes to students and professionals alike" Soprano P Mauriat PMSS 64 Mouthpiece:Jody Jazz ruby red #6 Ligature: Francois Louis (silver plate) Reeds: Vandoren JaZZ 4 The first thing I noticed about this horn was how light it is!! This made me think that it would maybe have a thinner sound than my silver plate Selmer SA80 series 2. I was wrong!.. the sound of the PMSS 64 has a fat, dark resonance that fills the room. The intonation is amazing as in every Mauriat saxophone. From low Bb to high F# and beyond, the response is incredible. The keywork has a light action which makes fast 16th note runs effortless. I have tried all of the top brands of soprano on the market and this horn beats them all hands down! It looks fantastic with the antique finish and can meet all the demands of a professional quality horn. Looks like I have another Selmer for sale!! Alto P Mauriat PMXA 67R Mouthpiece: JodyJazz Classic Alto 7 Ligature: Francois Louis (gold plate) Reeds: Rico Jazz Select 3 soft This alto has a rich centred sound that is very reminiscent of my old Selmer Balanced Action. The intonation on the PMXA 67R is far more accurate than the vintage horn. It feels very solid under the fingers and delivers everything from a breathy sub tone to a screaming altissimo. The rolled tone holes make it extremely easy for playing softly at minimal volume. The response of the altissimo's is second to none. The horn feels robust in it's construction. All in all, an awesome alto sax. Microphones Samson Roam AR1 wireless mic system Akg UHF SR40 wireless system with C419L condenser mic.
